As the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections approach, political campaigns have intensified across the region. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized the current BTC administration and former ruling parties, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), for their alleged failure to bring development to the region. He emphasized the BJP’s goal of becoming the strongest political force in the upcoming BTC elections and urged the people to bring BJP to power in BTC, just as they have done in Delhi, Dispur, and now aim for Kokrajhar.
UPPL President Pramod Boro held a massive rally titled “Harmonious Bodoland” at Kokrajhar town, drawing a crowd of over 20,000 supporters. He expressed confidence in UPPL’s growing popularity and declared that his party aims to win all 12 BTC constituencies in Kokrajhar district. Both BJP and UPPL are intensifying efforts to capture the political landscape of the BTC, with high voter interest and large-scale public rallies expected to make the upcoming BTC elections one of the most closely watched contests in the region.
